Launched in 2022, the Humber Violence Prevention Partnership (VPP) leads and co-ordinates the local response to reducing violent crime. It is one of 20 Home Office-funded Violence Reduction Units across England and Wales and is chaired by the PCC.
Body: The Humber VPP seeks to identify the root causes of violence, understand why people might commit violent acts and work with them to address their behaviour.
By adopting a public health approach, the partnership focuses on earlier intervention. It supports activities that offer young people positive alternatives to violence, such as sports programmes and social skills training.

The Humber VPP also runs awareness campaigns designed to educate and empower:
- Listen to Us! (Trusted Adults) | Supporting trusted adults to talk to young people without judgment, agenda or expectation.
- Talk to Us! (Trusted Adults) | Encouraging young people to reach out to a trusted adult for support.
- Anyone. Anywhere. | Educating young people on the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships.
- Youth Connect | A website for 11 to 18-year-olds seeking to explore new interests, develop skills and meet new friends in the Humber area.
- Navigators | Care, guidance and advice for young people admitted to hospital with a violence-related injury.
- Breaking the Cycle: Addressing Knife Crime Together | Helping professionals, parents and caregivers have conversations with young people about the realities of knife crime.
To achieve a shared goal of creating safer communities, the Humber VPP brings together key partners such as the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner, Humberside Police, local authorities and the NHS Integrated Care Board.
