JIAC icon

We are looking for two new members for our Joint Independent Audit Committee (JIAC) for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) and the Chief Constable of Humberside Police.

The vacancies have arisen as existing members are leaving to undertake other roles and will be for an initial period of three years, extendable for a second three-year term.

JIAC normally meet between 4-5 times a year, along with staff from the OPCC, Humberside Police, and internal/external audit.  Meetings are usually held face-to-face at our office in Cottingham.

JIAC is made up of five members, who are completely independent of the OPCC and Humberside Police.  You would be a key component of our corporate governance, providing an independent and high-level focus on the audit, assurance and reporting arrangements that underpin good governance and financial standards.  You would also provide assurance to the PCC and Chief Constable in respect of:

  • Governance
  • Risk
  • Audit
  • Finance

You will receive an annual allowance of £1,480.50 (paid monthly).  The chairperson receives £1,680.00 per annum.  You will also be reimbursed with travel expenses whilst on JIAC business.

Induction training will be provided if you are selected.

Applicants must be:

  • Independent of the PCC, Humberside Police and Crime Panel or the Chief Constable.
  • Not employed by the Police or any of its partner organisations.
  • Able to demonstrate experience and knowledge around corporate governance, risk or finance.

Applicants must also be willing to undertake employment vetting.

How to apply:

Candidates are invited to submit their CV with a letter setting out their relevant skills and experience.

Please also see the below application pack about the committee and the role.

Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 10th January 2025.

If shortlisted, interviews are in place provisionally for either Wednesday 22nd or Thursday 23rd January 2025 at the OPCC offices in Cottingham.

Please send you CV and covering letter to PCC@humberside.pnn.police.uk, for the attention of Paul Wainwright, Head of Assurance and Statutory Duties.
