Successful funding bid secures over £300,000 for services to support vulnerable people
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside have been successful in a bid to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to secure a total of £314,297 for local organisations who support vulnerable people.
On 21st May Commissioner Keith Hunter announced the availability of extraordinary funding for local charitable or not-for-profit organisations providing services to people affected by Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence, and invited applications to cover additional costs due to COVID 19 in the period 24 March 2020 to 31 October 2020. <See link to original announcement>.
We are pleased to announce that the MoJ have now approved the funding applications and the following list details our local organisations that have been successful, with the amount of funding that they will receive.
Keith Hunter said: ‘I am delighted that we have secured funding for all of our local bidders and this money will really help those affected by Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence across our local communities. Once again we have ensured that we responded very quickly to the short window of opportunity of this funding and that our partner organisations were able to respond equally quickly to secure this very welcome and positive result.’
The funding is designed to meet the additional costs registered charities or social enterprises have incurred or will incur whilst adapting their services during the pandemic, and to cope with demand increases resulting from it, during this time period.
For example, funding may be used to:
- address short term income disruption;
- meet essential costs of sustaining current activities, such the purchasing of assets to support the move to remote and digital working, and additional staff to cover those unable to work for reasons related to the pandemic; and
- address increased demand.
